ANATOMY

Fordyce Spots

Fordyce Spots (a.k.a. Fordyce’s Granules) are small painless bumps that appear on the genitals.

They are 100% normal and occur naturally in the body. Do not confuse them for a STD/STI and are at worse an aesthetic concern. This condition was named after American professor and dermatologist, John Addison Fordyce.

The condition is common among men and even some women. Studies show Fordyce Spots occur at any age, usually first appearing shortly after puberty starts. These bumps generally persist throughout life, but can become less prominent with age.

Do not confuse Fordyce Spots with Hirsuties Papillaris Genitalis we will go into that later on in the anatomy section.
