Directions
This depends on the product so you should follow the instructions that come with it or ask your physician. Most will have you prep and inser the sponge within 6 hours o your initial act of sex, you can then have as much sex as you want for the next ten hours. Make sure to leave the sponge in for 6 more hours once your done having sex.
Drawbacks
The sponge can increase your risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome if you use it during your period or have an irregular PAP test, not to mention it can be a very expensive form of birth control. Some women find they need help getting it in and out and you should not use it if your partner is allergic to spermicides or the actual sponge material itself. Naturally it provides no protection from STD's and STI's
