Giveing a Massage with what you know.
The back is broken up into three types of muscles which are
- the long muscles that run parallel to the spine.
- the flat muscle groups that cover the top of the back and lower neck.
- and the wide band of muscles that stretches from the spine to the side of the back.
By understanding this you can use the strokes covered below to cover many areas or focus on just one.
Oval stroke
Using the flat of your hands, start at the base of the spine and gently slide your hand up the spine, to the shoulders, and then bring your hands back down the middle, outside of the back, or their sides before returning to the base of the spine. This will make two big oval pattern on their back, and you should be used until they are comfortable.
Spinal Massage
Spinal massage starts with the base of the spine, apply pressure with the palms of the hand as close to your wrist as possible and slide your hands from the base to the shoulder blades. From here lift you hand and return to the base of the spine, by using both hands one at a time you can have one hand almost half way up their back as your leading hand reaching the shoulder blades.
Probing (Finger Kneading) the Spine
Probing is done using your fingertips to kneed the deep tissue, in this case your going for the tissue of the spine and to the immediate left and right of the spine ( as well as between the ribs if practical) and gently knead with your fingertips. You should start very soft because this can hurt as you are helping expel lactic acid from the muscle tissue, but as you work your way up the spine 3 or 4 times they will find they enjoy it immensely.
Back Compression
Use the palms of the hand on the left and right side of the long muscles that run down the back next to the spine. Apply pressure and then release the pressure before you move up a half a hand width and repeat from the base of the spine to shoulder blades. For girls who tend to be lighter, you may want to us both hands on just the left and then just the right side.
Kneading
Simply use your finger tips on the muscle tissue of the upper and lower back, skipping over any body spots.
Pinching
Use your thumbs to pinch the muscle between them, you can also pinch the muscle between your thumb and side of the hand as well. Like this you can do two things, eather move your hands in slightly opposite directions to scissor the flesh between the two thumbs or move your thumbs in small circles.
Shoulder Massaging
With your partners on their stomach you can slide your hand over the front of their shoulder touching their collar bone, and use your thumb in a rotating motion on their back muscles. Don't be afraid to shift your hands position to reach and work on different areas of the back.
Knead the Neck
The muscles at the back of the neck are thick and respond well to kneading with the thumbs. You can find them as it feels sort of like a diamond shape, be gentle with the neck, and remember the muscles that run down the neck to the spine are thinner and should be kneaded with the palm of the hand. Use your thumbs on the side of the neck and palms on the base of the neck.
Kneading the Shoulders
The massage the shoulder blades themselves you use the palms of your hand and finger tips on the meaty tissue, based on their response be delicate or firm. Work slowly and feel the muscle tissue around the bones of the shoulders and neck. Much like a shoulder massage you can curl your fingers over the shoulder as this will give you more leverage to knead the muscle tissue with your thumbs and palm.
Hot Hands
You can at any point rub your hands together fast to warm them up and apply heat therapy to any spot or make the massage much warmer. Massage Candles will also help a great deal with this, so use some heat!
A Soft Touch
To end any massage can bush the areas you worked on lightly with your finger tips, hair, or breath. Since you just worked on these areas they should be both warm and sensitive to provide a sensual experience. |
