Head Massage

When giving a head massage remember that different parts of the head need a different touch, so before we get into the different head massage options, lets cover the basics.

First make sure to wash your hands and trim your nail. Yes long smooth nails can be grate on the scalp and hair, but sharp nails or dirty hands can cause issues.

Make sure you are gentle with the face, you don’t want to stretch it.

Use a softly scented face massage oil, and for the face, too little oil is better then too much as you can always add more.

As always you need to communicate with your partner so you know what they like and can make sure you do not hurt them.

Last, a persons head is not a place to rest your weight, massage the scalp, don't rest on the scalp.

And not we can start with the different types of facial massage, so have them lay back, get comfortable and in a position they can lay on their stomach or back as needed. Just remember you will want to be at the head of your partner so you can reach their face, neck, and scalp.

Facial Brushing

This is very easy and can be done with your hands or a woman can even use her hair if its long enough. Have you partner lay down face up (you can have them rest their head in your lap on the couch or bed). Start gently petting them between their eyebrows, going out to the sides and up to the scalp. Try to alternate the hands you are using in a fashion where your partner can’t tell where one hand is beginning and another is ending.

Stroking the Brows

Rest your thumbs gently on the eyebrows, and then lightly drag each thumb across the brow and outward to the scalp. The stroke should end when you get off the eyebrow and remember to reduce skin to skin friction with a massage oil.

Stroking the forhead

Much like stroking the brows, the difference here is that you repeat the technique along the lines of the forehead until you get to the hairline and then repeat.

Jaw Line Massage

Start by placing your hands on the sides of your partner’s face, and then use your finger tips to make light circles or ovals on the jaw line. Start on the jaw line and work your way up the the area betwen the jaw and earlobe.

Temple Massage

Using your middle and index finger, gently make slow circles on your partners temple, this works best with medium to light pressure.

Lend and Ear

With your index finger and thumb, gently squeeze the edge of your partners ears and massage them with a soft circular motion. Make sure you travel up and down the ear lobe (and have them take off any earings).

Scalp Massage

This is the only time fingernails are a good thing as you can lightly drag them across the scalp to the delight of your partner. Otherwise simply use your fingers to explore your partners scalp or use things like combs or chop sticks. Try small and then large circles or a back and forth motion.
